Raleigh Event Photography: LLS Student of the Year

I’m a strong believer of photographers using their skills to help others.

When I previously lived in North Carolina, one of the groups I volunteered with was the North Carolina Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

I become involved with the organization through shooting a fashion show that benefited LLS, and that grew into me shooting a few of their fundraisers, including Light The Night, Man & Woman of the Year, and Student of the Year.

When I returned to the Raleigh-Durham area, I wanted to continue my relationship with them, which resulted in me shooting this year’s Student of the Year event.

Students of the Year is a philanthropic leadership development program for high school students where they raise funds for LLS. The event culminates at a gala at the Raleigh Marriott City Center where they announce the student who raised the most funds.

It was wonderful donating my photography services for a great cause. I’m looking forward to doing more things like this.

I often travel for weddings and other events, but this adventure was a more personal one.

My wife started Divine Legacy Publishing last year in an effort to teach authors how to self-publish their books. One year and dozens of clients later, she held her first Summer Book Soiree in Atlanta.

What was great about the event is that not only were there plenty of friends, but strangers stopped by the soiree and bought books.

It's always powerful to watch someone's vision come true, especially when that vision is your wife's.
